What’s 4 Supper 7-18-2010

Menu Calendar

Begin by selecting a date to start your menu. The application will open by default to the current ‘week’ view. To access the ‘day’ or ‘month’ view, touch the buttons at the top of the screen.
Swipe to Advance in Month, Week or Day mode.

The day is broken up into 4 sections:

  • Reminder – this is a place to enter a note to yourself about an upcoming menu item. Ex. On Monday, Remember to take chicken out of freezer for Wednesday.
  • Breakfast – enter your Breakfast menu here
  • Lunch – enter your Lunch menu here
  • Supper – enter your Supper menu here

As you begin to plan your menu a colored square will appear in the month and week view to represent that a menu has been planned for that meal. Blue = Breakfast, Brown = Lunch and Pink = Supper. A Yellow box will appear in the lower right hand corner if you have given yourself a reminder.

This application can also be used as a food diary.

You may ‘copy’ a meal to a future date to streamline menu planning. Select the date you wish to copy to and the meal category (Breakfast, Lunch or Supper)

The ‘+ recipe’ button allows you to do 2 things:

  1. Add the name of the recipe for that meal
  2. Include the source of the recipe so you can find it quickly.

Example: Recipe Name: Chicken Parmeasan.
Source: Taste of Home Magazine, April/March 2010 Pg. 45
Or you can include a URL as the source. Surf the web and when you find a recipe you want to use copy the URL and paste it into the source area to add it to your menu and list the website as the source. When you get ready to make the recipe, select the brown recipe box icon next to the name of the recipe and ‘ What’s 4 Supper’ will take you there automatically. (Note: you must be connected to the internet to use this feature.)

Grocery List

Select the ‘+ New List’ button and begin by naming your list (I suggest you call it the name of the store you will be shopping at). What’s 4 Supper? comes with a default list layout that you can custom arrange to fit your shopping needs. You may have multiple grocery lists.

To add items to your list select the list and pick ‘Add item’. Use the A-Z scroll bar to find your item or type it in the search box. What’s 4 Supper comes with over 650 grocery and lifestyle items pre-loaded from Apples to Vacuum Bags. Items are assigned a category and will automatically be placed in their proper place on your customized list. If you are unsure of your stores aisle layout, no problem. Create your list, arrange it the best you can and add items. On your next visit to the store, select the Edit button at the top of the list and then sort and move the categories to fit the layout of your store. Select save. You now have a customized list that will prevent you from backtracking and save you time and aggravation.

As you shop you can check off the items as you purchase them, If you have added an incorrect item just back swipe and delete the individual item.

When you finish shopping select ‘clear list’. Your items are erased and you are ready to add items for your next shopping trip. You only need to select the store layout once. The layout will be saved and will not be erased when you clear the list of items. You can enter the edit area of the list anytime you need to adjust the category order. Note: You must have the item entered into the List Data to add an item to your shopping list.

Lists may be emailed.

To delete a list just back swipe the name and the delete button pops up.

List Data

List data is where all the items used to build the grocery list are stored. An item must appear in the List Data before it can be added to a shopping list. The application comes with over 650 items. The user is able to search items, edit existing items, add new items and delete unused items to customize their list data. When adding a new item, type the item name and select the aisle category where that item is in the store. The aisle category is assigned to organize the list for efficient shopping. The aisle category list is predefined and is not editable. Should the user find that they purchase the same item from two different sources they can add a new item to the list and give it a different isle category. Ex. Item= Matches – Walmart Aisle = Hardware
or Item = Matches – Hannaford Aisle = Kitchen Gadgets

Suggestion: Begin by reviewing the List Data and delete all items you would not purchase.
